About the Role:

This is a part-time customer support role based in either Kansas City or Los Angeles, and we’re currently operating in a flexible, hybrid work environment.

This role will start at 20 - 25 hours per week, with the opportunity to grow into a full-time position within a few months. There is also some flexibility around which specific days per week, and we will try our best to accommodate your schedule.

Overview of Responsibilities:

A. Client interaction:

  • Engage with our customers on a consistent basis through various channels including email, phone, and chat
  • Focus on relationship building and issue resolution
  • Assist in customer satisfaction by providing knowledge about our products (e.g., food items) 

B. Operations

  • Create customer support tickets
  • Update customer database as needed
  • Collaborate with Finance Team on any customer refunds
  • Process any reshipment orders

C. Team Collaboration

  • Represent the voice of the customer in internal team meetings
  • Be an advocate for the customer by sharing relevant concerns, as well as possible product improvements

About You:

As part of the Customer Support Team, you’ll be on the front line interacting with our customers, the individuals and families who are using Free From Market to manage and improve their health through food. You’ll not only be working through any customer-related issues and operational tasks, but you’ll also be an ambassador of Free From Market to those who are benefitting from our offerings.  

The cliché about “wearing many hats” is true at Free From Market, and the person we hire should love interacting with customers (via email, phone, and/or chat), have an attention to details, and be looking to grow with the role.

  • At least 1 year of relevant customer service experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-pace and ambiguous environment
  • Extremely high work ethic
  • Ability to maintain composure in escalated situations
  • Comfort with Google Suite and Web-based computer skills
  • Deeply passionate about health equity and social justice

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Comfort working with support ticketing software and CRMs
  • Experience at a consumer Internet (e.g., ecommerce) company
  • Fluency with Spanish a plus, but not required

Compensation:

  • $23 - $26 per hour based on experience
  • Hybrid work environment (based in either Kansas City or Los Angeles)
