ROLE OVERVIEW
The Bovine IVF Laboratory Technician is an integral part of our global team to help bring certainty to genetic progress in livestock. The IVF Laboratory Technician will work alongside team members to perform all duties associated with embryo production, data entry, and communication while adhering to all laboratory standard operating procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES- IN LAB
- Complete Vytelle’s specialized training program is designed to prepare team members for fieldwork at our satellite locations for oocyte collection and in the IVF lab. This may require travel to our training facility in Texas.
- Work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while adhering to standard operating procedures (SOPs) following established IVF processes including; plate preparation, oocyte collection and maturation, semen processing, embryo culture, evaluation, loading and freezing.
- Assist with maintaining integrity of media, maintain accurate labelling and traceability of media and embryo production.
- Manage consumables: ensure proper storage conditions, guarantee material quality, and keep accurate control of lot usage.
- Ensure proper workplace care by maintaining an organized environment, handling materials appropriately, following cleaning protocols, performing regular equipment and lab maintenance, sanitizing work areas and instruments, and adhering to production inventory and LN2 management procedures.
- Maintain flexibility for working hours as IVF processes are time-dependent, includes some weekend work.
Follow and maintain strict adherence to newly implemented workflows, ensuring compliance with updated procedures and best practices. - Collaborate cross-functionally by providing support to various departments as needed, contributing to team efficiency and organizational goals.
- Able to follow directives; production standards, policies, health and safety, and regulations.
- Client and intra-team communication
- Handling, tracking, tracing and shipping of client embryos and semen.
- Ordering, handling, and receiving supplies
- Tracks and inventories shipping incubators
- Assist in monitoring liquid nitrogen tank levels and is able to change the cylinders as needed.
- Maintain embryo production data records and report generation.
- Perform additional tasks as requested by laboratory manager

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant field of study
- Industry knowledge and a strong passion for IVF and/or eagerness to learn and commit
- Previous laboratory experience in an academic and/or professional setting
- Knowledge of oocyte, sperm and embryo biology
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to details and technicalities
- Excellent organizational and technical skills
- Excellent interpersonal and multi-tasking skills
- Some travel may be required
