ROLE OVERVIEW

Maintain and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures that complies with GAAP and ensures appropriate internal controls. Supervise all day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable and receivables/collections, payroll, general ledger and trial balance accounting, reconciliations, and fixed assets. Lead the monthly financial close process and financial statement preparation, ensuring that reporting is completed in an accurate, timely and consistent fashion. Proactively partner with third-party partners to satisfy all required compliance requirements. Effectively and efficiently work with the external auditors/consultants to ensure the annual year-end audit is completed in a timely manner. Actively participate in and contribute to the development of the annual financial plan and subsequent forecasts, providing insightful variance analysis of actuals vs. budget.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee, mentor, and support the accounting team, which includes remote staff, as applicable.
  • Develop and engage staff and help them realize their full potential, ensuring a positive team environment and culture.
  • Lead the month-end general ledger and trial close process and produce timely, accurate and complete financial statements.
  • Conduct monthly account reviews and reconciliations, with cash/bank and vendor payments an imperative.
  • Closely monitor accounts receivable balances and proactively contribute to collection efforts. Ensure an adequate and consistently applied reserve provision is in place on a monthly basis.
  • Manage payroll processing and other related tasks, overseeing payroll reconciliation and recording of payroll to the general ledger.
  • Research and analyze GAAP and other accounting issues on a regular basis to ensure the Company’s accounting practices are in compliance with current accounting standards and international accounting standards for subsidiaries.
  • Maintain the chart of accounts.
  • Track and report consolidated fixed assets.
  • Review customer credits, vendor payments, and employee expense reports/reimbursements on a regular basis.
  • Actively participate in the annual and ongoing budget and financial planning processes.
  • Seek ways to improve the efficiency of day-to day-processes.
  • Ad hoc projects as needed by the CFO and the Executive Leadership Team.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, Master’s degree a plus
  • CPA preferred
  • Supervisory experience or equivalent: track record of effective team leadership and supervision, including managing and guiding staff or equivalent experience in a related capacity
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, mentor, and train team members, fostering their professional growth and enhancing their skills or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of applied accounting experience, with at least five years in a corporate environment preferred
  • Previous Controller experience strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in EXCEL required
  • Experience utilizing integrated ERP system; Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power BI experience a plus
  • Multi-currency accounting experience preferred
  • Travel as appropriate (10% or less time; passport required)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
